Description

Hello, I'm forwarding the Debian bug http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=332271 :

""" Version: 2.10.13-1.2

In many situations, the traffic calculations are based on something called the 95th percentile. Patches are available around the internet to enable mrtg to do such calculations.

The following site contains good explanations of the nature of the beast and is where to find patches:

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

for proper 95% calculations you need 5 minute data for an entire month. This is not generally available in your average *.log file ...

for more advanced data analysis, use rrdtool which can be tied in with mrtg as well.

some additional material is to be found on the 3rd party page of the mrtg website.
